Centre for Gender Equity and Community Safety (CGECS) is a Nigerian non-profit organisation working to advance gender equality, community safety and social justice through research, advocacy, education and community-led programmes. We work with communities, civil society, government institutions and development partners to create lasting social change.
Our work focuses on:
Gender equity
Community safety
Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)
Prevention of sexual and gender-based violence
Research and public policy
Climate justice and community resilience
Youth leadership and civic engagement
We work with women, girls, young people, community leaders, schools, civil society organisations, researchers, government institutions and development partners. We also strive to ensure our programmes are inclusive of marginalised and underserved communities.
CGECS is based in Nigeria. We currently implement programmes in selected communities and collaborate with partners across the country. As we grow, we aim to expand our reach to more states and regions.
Our programmes are guided by evidence, community participation and human rights principles. We believe sustainable solutions are developed with communities, not for them.
